 Be ready for a little work...Nov 08, 2011

I'd read reviews of this type of earring but different sizes and went into this purchase well aware of the unique clasping setup and the issues I could face. I really liked that they are continuous hoops without a standard backer. I got second piercings in my lobes and they've been trouble ever since. I needed something that wouldn't allow much build up, safe metals that wouldn't irritate or turn me green, that could hold up to being in my ears full time without stabbing me in the skull or allow my ears to grow over them when they heal. I have fat lobes apparently and smaller earrings were just not working.
Anyhow, I got the earrings today and was anxious to try them out. I opened the first one up a little wider, knowing I'd crimp it back down to normal size and it seemed to go ok - got it hooked back in with little work. The second ear... the real problem ear that had just finished a cycle of irritation... I couldn't get it through easily. There is a little angle where the end hooks into the loop that doesn't go straight through like a post, so I struggled to get it out the back. I took a little break, opened the earring a little wider and sprayed it down with bactine to help with germs and pain and just rocked it around until I could feel it come through. Closing it was rather difficult as well on that ear - didn't help that it was throbbing a bit from all the stabbing. But its in, and I'll suffer a day or two for the mangling I gave myself, but I plan on leaving these in for a while.
It is rather nice to not have posts and backers, sleeping and phone calls were painful at times. I'll update if I encounter any issues with them staying closed or anything like that.

These 12mm earrings look a lot smaller then I thought they would be from other reviews. The smaller size would certainly have been way too small. They are hard to get closed - I had to get help even though I did turn them so I could get a good view and applied lots of pressure. The metal is very strong. I'm glad they are not easy to get off, I accidently caught one with my comb but it didn't come undone. They are very comfortable I keep checking to see if I lost them since I can't feel them even when it's cold out.

I believe that these earring were made for babies.
I could not use them.
It would have helped if I would have done
some research on what 12mm stands for.
